Artist Yatish Asthana is under the BananaBandy Spotlight
Yatish Asthana is an Illustrator, Infographist and Graphic Designer. Though he was originally a science student, he chose to head towards more colourful pastures. He pursued the arts and attained a Bachelor’s degree in Animation and Multimedia from Birla Institute Of Technology, Ranchi.
Engineering was the only dream for students when I was in school. I never had any interest in doing Engineering and to be honest, I messed up in the entrance exams too. At that very moment I decided that it was not for me and chose to get into the art field. And from here my journey began.
An interesting fact about Yatish Asthana is that he has never used any pentab/wacom like device for his work. This is surprising as some of his illustrations show very high levels of detail. He prefers to work directly with a mouse or else to sketch out his ideas onto paper over using such devices.
I have been sketching since my schooldays. I am really happy getting into a profession which has still kept the child inside of me alive. I am paid for doing what I love, it doesn’t get better than that!
Yatish Asthana has worked with leading newspapers such as Mail Today and Mint as an artist. His inforgraphics have been published alongside many news articles. He has also been featured online in interviews by many publications such as Kyurious, CreativeGaga and DesiCreative.
Growing up on the illustrations of talented Indian artists such as Mario Miranda and RK Laxman, he never had to look too far for inspiration. He also follows artists like Dattraj Kamat, Amit Tayal and Faisal Mohammad. He has also been inspired by the work of fellow BananaBandy artists Arpit Pandey, Rahul Parihar and Adarsh Paul!
His most recent projects are both GIFs for a client. Impressed by the popularity of GIFs, he is working on putting some life into his artwork by creating some artistic GIFs of his own.
The two Ps to success: Practice and Patience!! Keep experimenting with your art style and most importantly ENJOY your work!
