BananaBandy & FGali collaborate to get your artwork on everyone’s feet!

FGali is a design led footwear brand collaborating with artists all across India to create a broad mix of footwear products which are exclusive and affordable. They are launching the HE(ART) story contest to get designs for their latest line of footwear. Yes, you heard that right, winning this contest just doesn’t mean another trophy which’ll gather dust on your shelves or another line in your CV with a few bucks in prize money. If your designs are selected then they will be printed on actual footwear which will be sold online and in retail outlets across India!

Artists whose designs are selected shall receive an upfront payment for their artwork, as well as royalties on all sales of their product. Also, HE(ART) Story is a unique initiative by Fgali which seeks to bring the spotlight to the artists who’ve created the designs. Along with every pair of footwear sold, the box will feature the artist and contain his short biography for the world to read. Isn’t that awesome?

 

Okay, I’m sold. What do I have to do?

All you need to do is:

1- Download this shoe template.

2- Let your imagination run wild and create some cool designs on your chosen theme.

3- Upload your artwork as a project on BananaBandy with the tag FGaliContest

Please note : You must add FGaliContest under the “tags” while uploading on BananaBandy to be considered a valid entry.

Themes available:

The selected designs will bag their designers a flat cash prize of Rs.1,000 with gifthampers worth Rs. 10,000, an appreciation certificate from industry professionals and a whopping 1% royalty on every pair of footwear designed by them sold.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

• What kind of artwork are you looking for?

We welcome all types of artists and media. Graffiti artists, illustrators, tattoo artists, oil painters, photographers and many other types of artists are part of the FGali family.

• Does the artwork have to be original?

Yes, all artwork must be originally conceived and designed by the artist who submits it. If you have questions about image ownership or your particular design, please email sujeet@FGali.com.

• Do I have to be from the India to submit artwork?

Yes! Currently we are only taking artworks from India.

• How old do I have to be to submit artwork and be selected?

You must be at least 18 years old. If you are younger than 18, you must show proof of parental permission to be eligible to submit.

• What are the format requirements for artwork submissions?

Initially, you are only required to submit a .jpg Preview Image with your design on this shoe template.

Where can I submit my artwork?

You can submit your artwork only on BananaBandy.

• Can I submit artwork more than once?

Yes, and we most definitely encourage you to! There is no limit to the number of design submissions accepted.

SELECTION PROCESS & INFO

• How do you make your selections?

An in-house committee individually reviews each submission. Submissions are chosen based on artistic style and quality, jury vote, applauds and shares on social media, etc.

• Do I retain ownership of my artwork?

When you submit your artwork to FGali, you are still the owner. If your artwork is selected to be sold as a shoe, FGali buys all rights to your work.

• Does FGali ever change an artist’s design without asking?

We consider ourselves experts at putting artwork on shoes, and, from time to time, we exercise our right to change a design slightly so that it looks its absolute best on a shoe. That being said, we take care to ensure that the integrity of the original artwork is not lost.

• If my artwork is selected, how much will I be paid?

You will receive a one-time, up-front payment of 1000 INR (for the rights to your work), a 1% royalty fee for every pair sold, one free pairs of shoes, and discount codes to share with your family and friends.

• If selected, how am I paid and how often?

Payments are sent via PayuMoney, which is why we ask for your PayuMoney account name in your artist profile. We send payments monthly for online sales and every six months for offline sales (this includes international, wholesale, and in-studio purchases).

• How quickly will I find out if my work is selected or not?

We select designs every ~3 months for pre-production sampling. If your design is sampled, you will be notified about its production status several months later. We understand that it’s a long process, but due to the nature of footwear, there is no real way around it. If you ever have questions about your specific design, please email sujeet@fgali.com and someone will get back to you within 24 hours.

• If my work is selected when will it be available for purchase?

Roughly 90 days from the time that your design is selected for production.
