When it happened on our phones, we did a double take. YouTube was different but how? We definitely noticed the shift in where we’re used to seeing the red but we also realised something else: the change is quite subtle. It may have just nailed the right amount of change that people are used to.
This article mentioned how the head of YouTube’s art department called it an evolution and not a revolution. This makes sense because we’ve seen how Facebook constantly faced negative feedback from users for changing their layout. However, when looking at logo changes, a more notable in recent times would be the Instagram logo change.
The change in Instagram’s logo came a few months after another big company changed their logo and also received tons of backlash. You may already be using their services and you may have cursed the services during the heavy rains two days ago. Have you heard of Uber?
If that logo change induces a shiver of ‘ewww’ down your spine, we understand. We don’t know why a company would change from a pretty, silver U to a weird backwards C but frankly, this a time when questions like that are best left unanswered. One question that is worth asking is, “Which companies present in India changed their logo recently?” Well, have a look and find out. Apart from Micromax, we kept the old logos on the left.
We’re glad that YouTube’s most significant change is their logo. They haven’t changed the ability of their videos to be embedded into an IndieFolio portfolio. One logo change that happened recently is Medium and it’s one we’re incredibly happy with because their old logo kind of clashed with ours (P.S. You can also embed any work from Medium too, just saying).
So glad that they dropped the green.
YouTube’s logo change is a welcome one, it’s subtle but it’s a cleaner design overall. It’s not the first Google-related logo we have covered. We also looked at logos that could inspire making one of your own and the trends in logo design in 2016 which are still relevant now.
This blog can be addictive. We know you must be craving more so here’s more:
