Revive the Hindu Mythology with these animated stories

Project Breakdown with IndieFolio

Mythologies have the ability to teleport you into a fantasy world. This ability makes it a very lucrative theme for creators to explore.

Vivek Ram, animation expert, and Senapati at Vaanersena Studios grew up listening to Hindu kathas. His fascination with these stories encouraged him to create a Hindu mythology based animation series named ‘ Myth-O-Katha.’

This series features 18 kathas which educate viewers about characters such as Hanuman, Ram, Kali, Krishna and more.

Vivek spoke to various people to find out more about the Hindu mythology but realized that a greater part of audiences still lacks the knowledge to these stories.

When we asked Vivek, why the name Myth-O-Katha? He had an interesting answer to it. “The west consider all these mythologies while we Indians consider them as stories. So the combo became “Myth-O-Katha”.”

Since Vivek wanted the end collateral as a GIF, he needed to seamlessly loop the animation. To achieve this, Vivek had to make sure that the characters were always in motion. He analyzed what set each character apart and then animated the action. Like Krishna is known for his flute and eating cream. Ram for his archery skills.

Vivek uses Krita, to create all these “Myth-O-Katha” stories. It is an open source software used for animation and digital painting purposes.

Myth-O-Katha received more than 20,000 likes on his social platforms. Currently “Myth-O-Katha” is on a break and will soon resume by the end of this year.

Do you have an interesting mythical story to share? Write to us and maybe Vivek will bring it to life!
