May 23, 2018 was a crazy night for all designer students who attended Portfolio Night’14 – the world’s largest advertising portfolio review. It was hosted by Whyness and The One Club at Mumbai campus of École Intuit.Lab. The night had around 51 participants who showcased their work to some prestigious and renowned jury. Simultaneously, 20 other cities over all the world, hosted the Portfolio Night as it was a world-wide event.
The judges who reviewed the portfolios were Prasoon Joshi, Josy Paul, KV Sridhar, Sonal Dabral, Raj Kamble, Raj Kurup and other famous celebrities deriving from marketing and communications industry. There were multiple review rounds from which top 7 final contestants were selected.
All seven contestants had five minutes to impress the whole jury of 23 judges with their best showcase work. Although everyone did their best it was Arshi who stood first amongst them. She won an all-expense paid trip to New York City and work with other All-Star winners on the massive global brand project.
Winners of
Previous Portfolio Nights worked on brands such as Puma, even the famous football club Arsenal, etc. IndieFolio got an incredible opportunity to speak to Arshi and her thoughts of being the star of Portfolio Night’14.
You had to showcase your portfolio to the whole jury all at one time. How was that experience? Did you think you would win?
“ No, No. Absolutely not because we had just five minutes to present one piece of work from our portfolio or whatever and we could present and of course in front of the panel of 23 greatest minds in the advertising agency. it was extremely nerved crackling. At the end of the day, it matters how much you believe in whatever you are presenting and that sorts seal the deal.”
When asked how she felt about the Portfolio Night’14, she told that she was star struck because you don’t get to see all the great people at once and getting their individual feedback on your work is something spectacular which doesn’t happen very often.
What is your motto when it comes to designing?
Arshi boldly said “It’s all about in just believing in your work and whatever you do just like spending all your personality in thing what you work on, so no one can ever be plagiarized or take that away from you. Just Make it your own is what I follow.
Overall the event was a grand celebration and the young students learned a lot from the best advertising and creative minds that too all at one night.
The portfolio and artwork are always important to the design student. You can look at top portfolios of various designers, creators, etc. on IndieFolio and showcase one of your own too.
