Coffeemonster creator Stefan Kuhnigk creates Art from Coffee Stains
Stefan Kuhnigk is a creative professional from Germany who works at an ad agency in the day and raises monsters out of stains at night. Coffeemonsters are his magical creations of devilish beings made from coffee stains on paper.
He studied design from 2005-2010 at the University of applied Science, Niederrhein. He currently works as a copywriter and designer and has a winning mix of both literary as well as artistic skills.
Coffeemonsters were developed by accident – a coffee spilling onto paper.
I spilled some coffee on a piece of paper and found something: A coffeemonster. I let it dry and tried to draw what I saw in it.
And from there he created his first coffeemonster!
From the next day onwards, he spilled coffee on purpose. An act which he has been continuing ever since then.
Since then I do it daily, or at least i try.
He’s created more than 500 of these little demons so far.
I really enjoy every single one because I enjoy creation as well as the challenge of creating from the random spill patterns of coffee on paper.
His procedure? Not a secret at all. He takes some coffee and splashes onto a piece of paper. After letting it dry for about 4 to 6 hours he draws directly onto the stain.
I try to see a character or figure in it and when I find something, I draw it. Tadaaa. That’s coffeemonsterlicious!
The inspiration to create can be found in the unlikeliest of places. It is upto us to grasp it when it strikes us and to give it our best. This is how greatness is created, by grabbing onto the most unlikely of opportunities and giving it a shot.
Everything you can imagine is real. ~ Pablo Picasso
