In The Spotlight With Aishwaary Anant

Artist Aishwaary Anant Interview with BananaBandy

We present to you the second BananaBandy user In The Spotlight. This week we have a hard working artist whose great artwork and creativity has captured the imaginations of both our audience as well as the Spotlight Jury. Here is Aishwaary Anant!

A resident of Indore, Madhya Pradesh; Aishwaary studied his BFA from Indira Kala College over there. He is currently an Illustrator and a Gaming Concept Artist. He loves going for long drives, playing games, watching movies and singing. He is an ardent believer in the phrase “Practice makes perfect”.

Art is not about the tools used to create it. It is about the vision, message and emotions of the artist.

His first project. An Owl Warrior for a board game’s cover.

Ans: I was introduced to BananaBandy when I received a mailer from this community. I saw a variety of work here, especially by the young artists of my age from all over the country. I learned a lot from observing their work and they inspired me to work harder than ever at my own projects.

Ans: At present I am busy with a freelancing MMORPG game.

A zombie dragon!

The harder I work, the luckier I get.

Ans: I observe the work of artists who are masters at their work. I read novels and comics and practice a lot. But I think, in spite of all this we need an inner energy that inspires us to give our best. I get this energy from my parents, my maternal uncle and my cousins who motivate me all the time and it builds up my confidence.

Ans: I like Digital as well as other traditional mediums like pencil, oil colours, water colours, etc. That’s why at first I prepare a rough sketch and rough colour idea on a paper sheet and then start working on digital software. I feel comfortable doing this and it helps me to get engrossed in my work.

Art that everybody is Tolkien about!

Ans: I am a big fan of the following artists as they are masters in their fields: Frank Frazetta, Drew Struzen, Raymond Swanland and Joe Jusko.

One can not only learn about art from these artists but about life as well; their dedication, struggle and their attitude for life is visible through their art.

Among Indian young artists, I like the work of Mukesh Singh and Aaditya Chari. A lot of things can be learnt from their work.

Setting short term goals and trying to achieve them is far better than aiming for a huge, faraway target.

Ans: When I am not creating, I read novels. I love reading. It increases your imagination power and you feel that you’re in a different world. What else does an artist need for creation?!

A robot dragon! Somebody call a Jaeger.

Ans: My mother says that setting short term goals and trying to achieve them is far better than working for a huge, faraway target. It builds up our self-confidence and reduces the risk. I always try to achieve my goals of life and work with this formula.

At present, I am trying to master my work and perfect my own unique style. Your future depends on what you are doing in your present.

In my future, I want to see myself as a successful freelancer so that I could live my life like a bohemian!

Ans: I don’t think that I may be able to completely answer this question since I too have a lot to learn. All the budding artists who belong to our community should invest their time more and more in studying the work of other established artists. We should try to see everything in an artistic way. A lot can be learnt just from the simple observation of other people’s work.
