Who doesn’t love a creative photograph? When we see photography jobs posted on the jobs page, we can’t help but think about the various photographers on IndieFolio and what kind of creative photography techniques they would have used to create their images.
We could ask them to spill their secrets but that would take away the sweet joy of learning through experimentation or maybe we could have one of them show you through a Masterclass. Or maybe you’re going to get what you came here for and see some of the most inspiring creative photography examples we have on IndieFolio.
Here are 5 projects with 3 examples from each that we think would be great for inspiration to an amateur and maybe even a professional photographer too.

Creativity isn’t always about coming up with something original. It’s also about adapting and using existing art forms to recreate in your own style. It’s true that most photography jobs don’t allow you a lot of space to experiment artistically but when you do, it should be with a vision in your mind that is so good and different that no other professional photographer could pull it off. That’s why we appreciate Kapil’s style here and how he keeps so much in focus.

A professional photographer should be concerned about the materials in front of the lens as much as he or she is concerned is concerned with what’s taking place behind the lens. So when faced with new materials, there comes a time to experiment and push the limits on what can be captured. This project cleverly used luminescent body paint and a dark room to create images that undeniably come off as creative. This also works as one of many photography ideas for beginners to use when understanding lighting or rather, what you could do without lights. And if nothing else, it could be a lot of fun of put on some music and dance with vibrant body paint on.
Imagine if your mood artistically appeared on your face.
It’s so easy to be drawn into these illusions.
This requires an understanding of how to play with the light and the dark.

Closed and open spaces are all around us. There is so much built around us that is just waiting to be clicked in new and exciting ways. Raise your hand if you would love to travel for a living. Ok, everybody, put your hands down. We get it, a lot of you would love to travel but how many of you want to work as you travel? Ah ha, not so many of you now. However, if you could be like Varun Aditya, you would be travelling and clicking amazing pictures that get you featured in National Geographic. When we reached out to him, he explained one of his creative photographic techniques that allowed him to get one of the pictures you see below. We love how creatively he frames his subjects that are normally so hard to predict.
This baby snake was his National Geographic award winning picture.
Can you imagine how long he waited to get this shot?
This what we mean when we say we love his framing and composition.
Re-constructed steampunk by Mohan Verma
We promised you creative photography but we can do better and we give you a few creative craftworks as well. These images would do more than help with landing a photography job in India, they would also generate leads for the products captured here. We’re not making that up, you can see somebody asked Mohan in the comments on the project about buying what was in the pictures. What we particularly like is the use of macro photography to make the products appear larger than life. The USB drive seen below looks like it could be two towers rising out of the earth.
This is craftsmanship that makes you go, “Ooh. I want one.”
A great photo may require a lot of work behind the scenes.
