In The Spotlight: Jabir J3

Typography Artist Jabir J3 is under the BananaBandy spotlight

Known as J3 or Jthree in the design community, Jabir is an Indian designer known for his Branding, Typography, experimenting illustration and SVG animation. From Malappuram, Kerela he got his B.Com from Calicut university and is currently employed by Brandmills as a designer. He is skilled as a typographer on BananaBandy and four of his five featured projects have been about his type designs!

He looks around in everyday life seeking inspiration for his work, once he finds what he is exactly looking for he adapts it into a font on Adobe Illustrator. He always looks to bring in an ethnic aspect towards his work.

He is really inspired by the speech given by Apple founder Steve Jobs at the Stanford convocation. He cites the following passage as being very inspiring to him and motivating him in his work a lot:

You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

He loves discovering new artwork on BananaBandy and he feels the following projects are some of the best he’s seen:

Freedom by Kriti Garg

Posters by Kaushal Faujdar

Pantone by Shemal Pandya

Jabir J3 is currently working on a branding project as well as his personal typography works titled “FEEL THE MARKS” and “JAIRO, LOADINK typeface”
