We, at IndieFolio, firmly believe that there’s an artist hidden among each of us. That’s why when the good folks at Faber-Castell India reached out to us to collaborate on the Change The Canvas campaign, we jumped on board.
Change the Canvas – the art movement for all
In case you’ve missed our updates on social media, here’s some background on the campaign: The idea behind this was to encourage the youth to choose something that defines them and transform it into a piece of art. To literally change the canvas and move beyond plain old paper. Imagine a football fanatic doodling over an old football, a fitness enthusiast adding some colour to a dumbbell, or a biker giving their helmet a makeover. We were stoked to have 35 artists from our community collaborate for this campaign and create some standout pieces, some of which are highlights:
This month-long campaign saw 400 participants from over 125 cities in India participate in it.. Everyone’s creativity and entries were through the roof. The participants used a camera, sneakers, a guitar, a mirror, a cricket bat, a jewellery box, and even a Ducati bike as their canvas. You can find all the artists and their canvasses here.
Change The Canvas at Todi Mill Social
The final night of the campaign was held at Todi Mill Social, Lower Parel on the 7th of July. Some standout entries were exhibited at the venue along with interactive workshops and live art by 4 incredible artists.
Sudeep Gandhi, Tirth Katrodia, Kanak Nanda, and Shefali Desai helped to amplify the creativity with their stellar workshops and live art sessions. Painting umbrellas, transforming recycled glass bottles and CDs into hanging art, expressing your emotions through calligraphy and customising photo frames and mobile covers.
It was a wonderful evening of fun, food, and art and it was great to see amateurs and artists alike letting their creative juices flow.
